Item Description

This piece dates back to 1977, and at the time it was found, it was a really big deal because crystallized Gersdorffite was virtually impossible to find. With that said, there was a fairly recent discovery of Gersdorffite in Bou Azzer that has redefined the species, so this piece isn't quite as impressive as it was 40+ years ago. It is still a noteworthy crystallized example of a rare nickel arsenic sulfide. The piece hosts fairly sharp, semi-lustrous, silvery-grey colored partial crystals of octahedral Gersdorffite measuring up to about 9 mm without matrix. The piece is essentially a solid group of Gersdorffite crystals and actually looks nice from both sides. Still very hard to find on the market, and we can say for certain that the finest examples of this species have been found at Bou Azzer. Priced at $550. This piece comes with a classic label from noted rarities dealer Josef Vajdák / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
