Item Description
This is mostly solid germanium ore, and was mined as such when found. It is , as a bonus, a combination miniature specimen with the very rare germanium sulfosalt species Renierite in Germanite from the Tsumeb Mine. Patches of orange-red renierite microcrystals (some gemmy) are scattered on all sides of the solid matrix of gray, metallic-lustre germanite. The red arrow points toward some tiny Renierite crystals. The Germanite ore has a colorful purple-green-blue iridescence. Tsumeb is the Type Locality for Germanite. From the 29 Level of this world-famous closed mine. These specimens turn up time to time from old collections, and are hard to value. Although basically ore, it is GERMANIUM ore, which is something special!
