Item Description
The renowned Tsumeb Mine is the Type Locality for this rare Ge-sulfosalt. This is a solid 35 gram specimen of germanite-rich ore from the lowest and last of the oxidation zones of this world-famous mine. This region was noted for its incredible wealth of very rare elements and minerals containing germanium, among others. The germanite ore ranges from mauve to a colorful purple-green-blue iridescence. An excellent miniature. Walter Kahn (warikahnite) was a Tsumeb Mine manager, mineral dealer and mineral collector, and his label gives this a fine provenance (INFO HERE: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1417). Ex Art Soregaroli Collection. Valued $750
