Item Description
Rare Germanite ore from the deep levels of the famed extinct Tsumeb Mine. This region was noted for its incredible wealth of very rare elements and minerals containing Germanium, among others. Germanite is a rare Cu-Fe-Ge sulfosalt and Tsumeb is the Type Locality. Striking rich patches of scintillating iridescent magenta and bronzy color add real pizzazz to this solid germanium ore specimen with 54 grams mass. Ex R.D. Mushlitz Collection and comes with a John Veevaert label, a prominent internet mineral dealer and great guy, who died tragically in a 2018 car accident. John bought much of Dr Georg Gebhard's collection in around 2003 and sold this to Mr. Mushlitz, a mutual customer at the time.
