Gemmy watermelon Tourmalines (recent new find!)

Three gemmy watermelon tourmalines dramatically protrude from the side of an impressive much larger parallel-growth watermelon tourmaline from a recent new find in Minas Gerais. The vivid pink, glassy, layered, isolated prisms are 4.3, 3.5 and 2.7 cm long. The gemmy green terminations really accentuate these beauties. Interestingly, both ends of the large host crystal are broken and rehealed. Backlighting really highlights the glorious pink color saturation of the isolated crystals. The two large crystals are pristine and the small prism has a single barely noticeable repair (or maybe two, it is hard to say). This is certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. Mass is 156 grams. It resembles classic Barra do Salinas tourmalines but is from a new locality. Outstanding and colorful bi-colored watermelon tourmaline from Minas Gerais.
