Item Description
A remarkably beautiful gemmy bi-colored watermelon tourmaline from a recent new find in Minas Gerais (undisclosed mine near Golconda). The striking vivid pink core dominates the very glassy, well-striated, layered trigonal crystal crowned by a 3 mm gemmy green pinacoidal termination. The sculptural prism is actually partially doubly terminated. Backlighting really highlights the glorious pink color saturation. Complete all-around and in great shape. Two barely noticeable very clean repairs with a bit of epoxy filling are noted. These are certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. Mass is 16 grams. It resembles classic Barra do Salinas tourmalines but is from a new locality. Outstanding and colorful bi-colored watermelon tourmaline from Minas Gerais.
