Item Description
Topaz from Klein Spitzkopje is a Namibia classic and this is a showy and excellent crystal. The water-clear, mostly colorless crystal has a few interior veils with iron oxide inclusion. The textbook crystal is highlighted by the striking modified chisel termination. Most of the crystal faces have a satiny luster, but some are water-clear, adding character. Complete all-around. The presentation face is in good shape, with only a bit of lower periphery wear and end contacting. A dinged end is mostly out-of-sight. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 901 and acquired in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Highly representative OLDER topaz. 193 grams mass. MUCH better in person.
