Gemmy Tanzanite (parallel growth crystals)

Jagged terminations characterize this striking, supremely densely stepped-growth small cabinet tanzanite crystal. This glassy natural trichroic crystal has a very gemmy upper section with a translucent to nearly opaque lower section. The densely striated sides are purple, the gem end faces are a rich deep blue and areas of the translucent broken base are a rose-red. All of the many terminations are pristine. Embedded graphite is noted on the sides, terminations and contacted back. Parallel-growth tanzanite crystals of this density are very uncommon from the Merelani Hills and this is a very fine example. 110 grams mass.
