Item Description
This is a gorgeous gemmy crystal with all 3 colors of the natural trichroic crystal present and strongly showing down different axes of view; riveting glassy luster that is top of the game; incredible clarity and transparency; and a fullsized thumbnail at 40.71 carats. The bit of internal crazing really adds character to this cutie. As a specimen, I value it at $1500. As a pure bonus, the gem rough value here is considerable at $500 per carat in finished wholesale gems - all you have to do is heat-treat this to make it the deeper jewelry-desired crazy-blue color, and cut away. It should have a relatively high yield in stones from the large central zones and return more than the specimen value alone might. The base is translucent and is nearly colorless. There is contacting and edge wear at the base, but has minimal inpact to this beautiful gem crystal with very rich color and trichroism.
