Gemmy Smoky Quartz (RARE - Larson Coll.)

Item Description

Smoky quartz is RARE from the well-known Oceanview Mine. This very interesting, shapely hexagonal small cabinet crystal is mostly water-clear gem with rich smoky color. Two of the six prism faces are highly lustrous, glass-clear and nicely accented with stepped-growth. Another lustrous face is lightly frosted and the other three faces are frosted with matte lustre. The sculptural termination has starkly contrasting milky quartz faces, adding much character. The smoky is partially doubly terminated and there is a muscovite book embedded in the base. With strong lighting, you may see amber hues within. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Pegmatite Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook.
