Item Description
Beautiful, supremely gemmy and lustrous, rose-red, rhodochrosite scalenohedrons comprise the core cluster of this dramatic, richly filled and well-placed vug in sulfide matrix on this striking and impressive older specimen from Santa Eulalia. The back of the matrix includes galena crystals, a diagnostic feature to Santa Eulalia. The large crystal on the left side of the vug is 1.5 cm. Periphery wear is noted around the vug, but this is a classic, important and very highly representative example of the species and famous locale. The rhodos from Santa Eulalia don"t get any better than this. Ex Consie Prince Collection and valued at $600-800.
