Item Description
An impresssive and RARE large topaz from the Shigar Valley of the Skardu District. The striking, very glassy, highly lustrous textbook orthorhombic gemmy crystal is water-clear to translucent with interior veils and has a very fine light champagne hue. The highly modified pinacoidal termination is a classic and desirable crystal form. Subtle YELLOW fluorescence under SW UV light. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a small bruise on the termination near an edge. Certainly only a modest detraction to this excellent and rare Pakistan topaz. Most Pakistan topaz specimens come from other localities within the Skardu District, such as Dassu or Shengus. 418 grams or nearly a pound mass. Excellent, shapely and rare topaz from the David Burgess Collection.
