GORGEOUS, GEMMY, and lustrous orange to burnt-orange orpiment crystals to 2.5 cm with sharp chisel terminations form a SUPERB, VERY AESTHETIC specimen from the famous Quiruvilca Mine of Peru. Pieces of this outstanding quality came out from the 1970s to 1981, with none since. This piece is in FABULOUS condition, for its size. It is PRISTINE. Ex Dr. Gary Hansen Collection and comes with a Zweibel Mineral Kingdom of Houston label, which dates the piece from mid-1980. The piece probably dates to the last major orpiment find in 1981. Quiruvilca Mine orpiment of this quality is comparable to any worldwide locality, including the well-known 2001 find at the famous Twin Creeks Gold Mine of Nevada. Valued at $2000-2500 and is a real spiker in this auction.
