Item Description
Gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous burnt-orange orpiment crystals to 1.1 cm with striking yellow highlights and sharp chisel terminations form a very aesthetic crust on sulfide matrix from the famous Quiruvilca Mine of Peru. Pieces of this fine quality came out from the 1970s to 1981, with none since. This piece is in excellent condition, for its size, with only a bit of periphery wear. It is essentially pristine, otherwise. Ex Consie Prince dealer stock. Quiruvilca Mine orpiment of this quality is comparable to any worldwide locality, including the well-known 2001 find at the famous Twin Creeks Gold Mine of Nevada. At one time before other locales in China and Nevada produced, this could have been a $1000 specimen. Admittedly orpiment is more common now, as the world developed. But still, this is an important old locality piece
