Item Description

Matrix specimens of gemmy fluorapatite crystals of this oustanding quality are RARE from this famous iron mine, as blasting for the ore dislodges most crystals. The glassy, lustrous yellow-green crystals, to 3.8 cm, are fantastically set in matrix. The crystals are complete all-around and are very nearly pristine. Prism face contacts are noted on both crystals, but there is no damage, per se. The noted trivial termination bruising to both crystals has very minimal impact to the superb quality and aesthetics of this piece. The base has been sawed to enhance the dramatic display quality. Choice material from the Jason New Mexico Collection. This noted locale is featured in the 2011 Mexico-VI issue of the Mineralogical Record. Valued at $800-1000.
