Item Description
An impressive, large, doubly terminated, twinned calcite with two strikingly different terminations. This gemmy and lustrous Elmwood has classic and desirable areas of rich golden-amber color to compliment the exceptional clarity of the large termination. The bit of sphalerite is a nice accent. The primary termination edge has a gentle bit of cleaving and trivial bruising is noted elsewhere. The sharks teeth terminations have only gentle bruising. Out-of-sight, the back is cleaved and broken. This is a highly representative large example of this classic form and famous locale. It is a fine display specimen that has long been in the mineral collection of John Culberson, a former Texas Congressmen in the US House of Representatives for the Houston area. He specialized in Elmwood minerals for several decades.
