Item Description
Perhaps the most unusual "common" species combo piece in the auction! Charlie Key loved unusual combinations and had many in his Namibian collections. Unusual, very attractive combination piece of gemmy Dioptase crystals on Quartz. The Dioptases average 1-3 mm in size, are lustrous, GEMMY, and a lovely medium green (slightly deeper than the pics). The Quartz crystal is interesting in and of itself. Not only is it nearly doubly-terminated, but there is as a super-glassy, gemmy secondary layer coating about three-fourths of the Quartz crystal. It is this layer that the Dioptase actually grows on. Aesthetic, and quite interesting. To my eye, amon gthe more unique examples we have seen from here.
