Item Description
The striking, clefted "cityscape" termination really adds pizzazz to this dramatic and sculptural bi-colored tourmaline from Pech. The crystal started as a single crystal, and as it grew it split into multiple terminations that splay apart and get broader towards the termination at top - very impressive! This is technically a watermelon tourmaline, as a gemmy green outer layer covers the very glassy, well-striated crystal. The interior is gemmy to translucent. The lower 1.4 cm is a pretty pink, followed by a teal-blue zone. The center section is a gemmy teal-green followed by the beautifully gemmy bottle-green below the striking multiple, frosted terminations. An impressive 360-degree complete all-around crystal. A few bruised secondary terminations are noted, but are certainly only a modest detraction. This is a classic and exotic example of the modern Pech tourmalines! It is a bit beyond the average quality because of the gemminess, colors and multiple terminations. Ex Uwe Strauss Collection. 54 grams mass.
