Item Description
An adorable OLD-TIME thumbnail of gemmy bi-colored tourmalines from the famous Himalaya Mine. The sculptural, aesthetic pair of stepped parallel-growth, very glassy, well-striated crystals have classic "Himalaya pink" bodies capped by water-clear, very light green terminations. A super cute 360-degree specimen and nearly pristine. The trivial bit of termination edge wear, mainly to the tall crystal and contacting lower on one side, with no bruising, are noted but have little impact to the obvious high quality of this most excellent and colorful old-timer. Ex Kay Robertson Collection and acquired from well-known California field collector and mineral dealer Bob Dye at the Compton Show in 1962. Read Bob's fascinating biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive at: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1902. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 17.54 carats or 3.5 grams mass.
