Item Description

The Stewart Mine is renowned for gorgeous, hot-pink tourmaline, but has also produced very fine bi-colored tourmalines, such as this very fine example. This very glassy, well-striated crystal has gorgeous color. A beautiful, gemmy, 6 mm, indicolite-blue zone underlies the frosted purple and blue termination. A pretty 5 mm green zone follows and is underlain by the classic, pastel-pink zone. On end, at the base, you can see an outer sheath of green surrounding the pink zone and a very dark purple thin layer at the base. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. Super-trivial termination edge wear is noted. Thats albite cascading down the backside and the modest bit of adjacent edge wear is out of sight in the display views. Old material from the 1960s, and very seldom available in this fine quality. Ex Maury Morgenstein Collection (an old-time San Diego miner and gem dealer). A SUPERB MINIATURE!!! 65 grams. Valued $900-ish.
