Item Description
The famous pegmatites at Virgem da Lapa produced a striking NEW find of tourmalines around Christmas, 2009 and this is certainly about the most unusual looking crystal in the lot we received. This crystal has about the most dynamic fluted section you can imagine. It is where another tourmaline once lay. Most of the body of the gemmy and lustrous body is a pleasing bottle-green enhanced with a striking, contrasting, thick teal-blue zone. The base is opaque and that's columnar lepidolite with a tiny tourmaline sticking out of the side there. The complex pyramidal termination is dark green/black and is paritally etched (no damage here). The adjacent collar is dinged and the side car lower down has a broken tip. This remains an excellent, most facinating tourmaline from this find. 35 grams.
