Item Description
Gemmy, bi-colored Tourmaline Queen mine elbaites are San Diego County classic. This very cute, heart-shaped crystal has high glassy luster and well-striated faces. The upper 9 mm of the crystal is very gemmy (hard to see). The water-clear termination has a narrow purple layer with a striking teal-blue zone below. The base is a pretty pink, which surrounds the schorl core. Complete all-around the shard of quartz attached to the back is nifty accent. The scattered bruising on the termination edges is noted, but this remains a most excellent and shapely example of the species and famed locale. From 1980s finds. 42 grams mass.
