Gemmy bi-colored Liddicoatite Tourmaline

A gorgeous, luscious, bi-colored gemmy/translucent Tourmaline variety Liddicoatite crystal from the end of 2011 finds from the Camp Robin area of Madagascar. The very glassy trigonal crystal has fine form with the striking notch on one side, lustre and sharpness highlighted by the pyramidal termination and well-striated prism faces. The vibrant colors of the mottled interior range from a rarely seen rich golden-orange color to green throughout the prism. The colors explode, when the crystal is back lit! Complete all-around and pristine. These crystals were sold as being Liddicoatite, but as of 2011, Liddicoatite is no longer a valid mineral species. A very fine example of the find. It may be fluor-liddicoatite, liddicoatite, elbaite or other species. Single xl XRD and WDS analysis are needed to confirm which species are present. 41 grams mass. Valued $1500-2000
