Item Description
A 4.0 x 2.0 cm, gemmy, juicy, bi-colored elbaite is jauntily set in a euhedral quartz crystal fragment on this aesthetic combination from Pech. The glassy, lightly frosted pyramidal termination has a thin pink layer and is underlain by a very subtle light blue or achroite (colorless zone). The main zone is a luscious, layered apple-green to teal-blue. The base is a vivid pink gem nodule. The highly lustrous, striated prism faces are also lightly frosted. The trivial bit of termination edge wear is noted, but is certainly a modest detraction. Matrix bi-colored elbaites from Pech are UNCOMMON and this is a good one. Ex. Pala International Company Collection and was for many years on display at their Fallbrook, California shop.
