Item Description
A beautiful, gemmy, bi-colored elbaite crystal nicely accented with cleavelandite and muscovite from this famed locale. The frosted, nubby termination is underlain by a narrow dark purple section. Gorgeous, gem, apple-green and light olive-green sections follow. The basal area is opaque dark purple with a green sheath. This aesthetic trigonal crystal has high glassy luster and is well-striated. Complete all-around and pristine. A classic and very fine, old-timer (probably collected in the 1960s or 70s) from the Robert Bartsch Collection. He was a noted California field collector and collector. He passed away in 2014 and here is a link to a fine article written by his friend, Rock Currier: http://www.mindat.org/article.php/2158/Robert+Bartsch+++RIP++1939+to+2014.
