Gemmy Azurite xl (Israel Coll.)

Item Description

Tsumeb "gem" azurite crystals of this outstanding quality were considered to be about the finest in the world in the 1970s and 80s. This highly lustrous, sharply terminated tabular crystal is dark midnight-blue and has beautiful "electric-blue" gemmy edges, when strongly backlit. It is complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only the slighted termination edge wear on the backside. It was valued at $1800, when the Willy Israel Collection was acquired in about 2004.
