Item Description
Documented aquamarine specimens from the well-known 1953 "Hilton pocket" are RARE and highly desirable from the Audrey Lynn Mine. Road construction during drilling and blasting to the pegmatite exposed a large pocket of quartz and aquamarine, which eventually was called "Hilton", due to its size. This striking tabular, hexagonal, glassy and lustrous, prism is mostly sea-green with areas of blue. The crystal is gemmy to translucent and some of the faces are partially etched. The dramatic bifurcated multiple terminations are light and darker green. The bit of attached matrix, which includes a 5 mm schorl needle adds contrast and character. See: https://www.mindat.org/loc-55916.html for more information on the mine. Formerly in the collection of California dealer Mark Rogers and priced by him at $850 tens of years ago. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. Mass is 141 grams. A RARE and superb old Audrey Lynn aquamarine from the 1953 find. These are simply not for sale at any price and we were fortunate to get this old collection of such treasures. When they are gone...they are gone! Valued $2500-plus
