Gemmy Aquamarine crystal

A beautiful, gemmy and lustrous, aquamarine from an unknown pegmatite in Minas Gerais (and from an old collection of 1960s-70s vintage, prior to Pakistani aquamarines coming out). The color is a pleasing pastel blue-green. All 6 sides on this water-clear, textbook, hexagonal beauty have have variable amounts of etching. The vertical interior crazing and single horizontal band near the top really add character to this gem crystal. The striking, modified, pinacoidal, glassy termination gives a TV view straight down the C-axis. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only the most trivial of termination edgewear in one spot. A classic and most excellent gem aqua from Minas Gerais. 28 grams.
