Gem Zoisite xl ex Obodda

Item Description

A well-striated, gem zoisite crystal from the Alpine-type deposits at Alchuri. The color is a pretty bottle-green and the ends are terminated/contacted. The cleaved side face shows the fine gemminess and rich green color. Yes, this is the same mineral as tanzanite, but as it does not turn purple when heated. These greenish zoisites are actually somewhat rarer than the now-common tanzanite! Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this piece at $450, about 10 years ago.
