Item Description

Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual gypsum crystal forms in the world or any mineral specimen crystal form, for that matter. This is a bizarre, water-clear, colorless and doubly terminated twinned gypsum crystal. The floater crystal has included clay particles. This particular shape is a Z-twin. Essentially pristine, with only the most trivial of edge wear. Amazing for such a soft mineral. Most certainly a VERY strange-looking specimen! It looks carved! See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3. Ex Mullane Collection. Older material.
