Item Description
A striking, highly unusual, water-clear, colorless and doubly terminated hourglass twinned gypsum crystal from the famous Lake Gilles of South Australia, Australia. The floater crystal is strikingly included with funnel-shaped clay particles and both terminations are fishtail-twins. This particular shape is a Z-twin. Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual gypsum crystal forms in the world. Nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear on the back side and gently rubbing on the fat fishtail. Most certainly a VERY strange-looking specimen! It looks carved! See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3. Ex Mullane Collection. Older material.
