Item Description
These are LITERALLY, like jewels! They are the most sparkling and gemmy whewllite you can imagine. Whewellite is a very rare low-temperature primary hydrothermal mineral in carbonate-sulfide veins; it also occurs in geodes, or septarian nodules; is associated with coal measures and surrounding rocks with organic material; and occurs in some uranium deposits. It also occurs as microscopic crystals in living plant cells and as calculi or as a sediment in the human urinary tract. This old-time collection of 17, sharp, water-clear, prismatic crystals is from a classic German locale - the Gluckauf Mine, Burgk, Dresden, Saxony, Germany. The whewellite occurs in anthracite coal measures here and many of the crystals are twinned. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection and comes with a Lazard Cahn label dating from 1915-1940.
