Item Description

The famous pegmatite deposits around Virgem da Lapa are best known for the world class natural blue topaz specimens, but every once in a while, some attractive and rarely seen tourmalines came out of this area as well. This absolutely gemmy pencil is an old-timer from the 1970s or early 80s finds. It is totally limpid, glassy and has beautiful bottle-green color. The parallel-growth crystals add panache. Nearly pristine, except for a broken tip on a lower sidecar crystal. You seldom see tourmalines of this quality today from this famed locale. 4 grams. Ex Karl Warning Collection and purchased from Doug Wallace at the Dallas Intergem Show on April 19, 1985.
