Item Description

The high temperature quartz veins at this well-known mine are famous for high quality topaz crystals (MINDAT). This is a fine gem, water-clear colorless crystal. Some of the prism faces are sharp, water-clear, others are partially water-clear and contacted, with most being contacted. There is actually only minor internal crazing with clay inclusions in the crystal. Complete all-around nearly pristine, with only a couple of hard-to-see spots of bruising on the contacted sides. Large topaz crystals, such as this 3.6 cm crystal, are rare from Spain. Deposits were intermittently mined from 1912 to 1990 and topaz specimens are seldom available. 42 grams mass. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! The extreme gemminess, glassiness, surface contacting and internal crazing with inclusions made photography difficult. Ex Sanabria Collection.
