Item Description
Large sharp orthorhombic topaz crystals, such as this 4.0 cm beauty, are RARE from Spain. Topaz specimens from Spain are uncommon from the five localities listed by MINDAT. Most specimens have come from the San Nicolas Mine. This is a beautiful sharp light blue gem crystal with water-clear faces. The textbook chisel termination faces are strikingly scalloped, but are difficult to see in the photos. Complete all-around pristine, the back is contacted but there is no damage, per se. The crystal rests atop topaz fragments. Deposits were intermittently mined from 1912 to 1990 and topaz specimens are seldom on the market. Mass is 29 grams. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! A VERY LARGE and rare Spanish topaz.
