gem Tanzanite XL (93.06 carats)

Item Description

This beautiful, gemmy, parallel-growth tanzanite crystal has striking cityscape architecture and very nifty etched and striated terminations. The crystal exhibits classic, textbook dichroism (the base is translucent). The A and B axes are the beautiful, vibrant blue and blue-violet, indicative of natural unheated state of color (hard to photo). It is complete all-around, though it grew against something (contacting) on the lower back and one side. There is embedded graphite here. The lower side car has a broken tip. This is a wonderful untreated tanzanite miniature with textbook colors and exotic sculptural crystal form. 96.03 carats or nearly 20 grams mass. Valued at $4000.
