A classic and very fine, tapered gem tanzanite crystal with all 3 colors of the natural trichroic crystal present, with subtle red C-axis color. It has riveting glassy luster that is top of the game; excellent clarity and transparency; and a full-sized thumbnail at 36.63 carats or over 7 grams. The minimal bit of internal crazing adds much sculptural pizzazz to this gem beauty. As a specimen, I value it at $1570-2000. As a pure bonus, the gem rough value here is considerable in finished wholesale gems - gem dealers would heat-treat this to make it the deeper jewelry-desired crazy-blue color, and cut away. It should have a relatively high yield in stones and return more than the specimen value alone might. Pristine. Both sides are partially contacted, but there is no damage, per se. A beautiful gem crystal with excellent color and trichroism. Valued by the former dealer at $2250 (half what was marked) to us in a larger lot.
