Gem Tanzanite Crystal (40 carats)

A gorgeous gem tanzanite crystal with rich color, riveting glassy luster and a sharp chisel termination. Most of the crystal is beautifully gem, with the striking stepped-growth faces adding real pizzazz. This is a classic pleochroic crystal. The primary sides are vivid blue with rich purple on the ends. Hints of red are noted on the translucent bottom (also proving that it is not heat-traeated to enhance the blue and purple tones). Complete all-around and pristine! This is a very gemmy, shapely and colorful natural unheated tanzanite with a nice size and excellent color. Mass is 40 carats or 5 grams. It is a dramatic piece good for any display collection. Fairly valued at $2400. The original owner valued it more highly (it came in a large liquidation deal or I could never afford to buy it today in Tanzania, even, to auction and sell at this price range).
