Gem Tanzanite crystal (38.03 carats)

Item Description

This is a fine gemmy crystal with all 3 colors of the natural trichroic crystal present, with the purple on one axis being more subtle. It has riveting glassy luster that is top of the game; excellent clarity and transparency; and a fullsized thumbnail at 38.03 carats. The bit of internal crazing really adds character to this cutie. As a specimen, I value it at $1200-1500. As a pure bonus, the gem rough value here is considerable in finished wholesale gems - gem dealers would heat-treat this to make it the deeper jewelry-desired crazy-blue color, and cut away. It should have a relatively high yield in stones from the large central zones and return more than the specimen value alone might. Part of the base is translucent and is nearly colorless. There is contacting and edge wear at the base, but has minimal inpact to this beautiful gem crystal with very rich color and trichroism.
