Gem Tanzanite (13.68 carats)

Item Description

This beautiful, gem, tanzanite exhibits classic, textbook dichroism (the base is translucent). The A and B axes are the beautiful, vibrant blue and blue-violet, indicative of natural unheated state of color (hard to photo). The parallel-growth crystal has a very nifty complex termination. The crystal is complete all-around, though the base of the back and a corner grew against something (contacting). This is a fine untreated tanzanite thumbnail with textbook colors and excellent crystal form. 13.68 carats or over 2 grams mass.
