Item Description

Very gemmy, light green, unusually tabular parallel-growth aquamarine crystals form an exceptional and rare old-time beryl from an unknown Minas Gerais locale, perhaps the famous Medina pegmatites. The water-clear crystals have a beautiful shimmering silky lustre. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a bit of acceptable periphery wear at the base. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 425 and acquired from the Filer's February, 1957. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). An outstanding, old-time RARE style green aqua from Minas Gerais. 35 grams mass. Valued at $1200-1500 for age, quality and rare style.
