Gem Sphalerite on Quartz (excellent)

A 1.8 cm, gemmy, gorgeous, complex red sphalerite crystal is magnificently set atop incredibly sculptural drusy quartz matrix on this very aesthetic specimen. There are more gem sphalerites, mostly concentrated on one side of this outstanding piece. The sphalerite looks like a crown jewel set atop the piece. The backlit photos really exemplify the quality of the sphalerite. This excellent, 360-degree specimen is from the Shuikoushan deposit of China and these sphalerites are considered to be some of the finest in the world. Moderately common 3-6 years ago, you see very few around today and it is easy to see why.
