Item Description

Superb gem, water-clear smoky quartz crystal with fine color from famed Chamonix alpine quartz clefts. The sharply terminated super glassy and lustrous crystal is beautifully enhanced by the pronounced stepped-growth on one prism face and subtle stepped-growth on all 6 of the prism faces. Adding even more interest and character, the broken base is totally recrystallized and overgrown with a myriad of smaller crystals. An impressive pristine French beauty from Chamonix. This is not merely transparent, it is gemmy and bright inside - there is a difference. It comes from an old French collection we purchased some time ago.
