Pingwu beryl mine has produced the best Scheelites in China, and arguably the world, since the 1990s; and modern material that still trickles out a little bit is not nearly as gemmy as this oldstyle classic scheelite, likely from before 2000 but at least before the giant earthquake of 2008. That quake destroyed access to this locaiton and really set back longterm mining and specimen recovery. This particular piece features is really nicely balanced and hosts a sharp, lustrous, rich orange scheelite crystal measuring up to 2.9 cm across and 2 cm on horizontal edges, aesthetically set in silvery, bladed muscovite crystals. The scheelite is complete, pointed all around except only one corner contact on one tip where it grew against mica. Note how gemmy the termination is. Color slightly varies between LED and Halogen lights (both are shown). Gemstones were cut from tips like this, back in the day! Valued $1250-1500. For this size, a wonderful example from the locality!
