Item Description

Gem, highly lustrous, rubyjack sphalerite crystals with shocking flashes of reddish-orange and yellow color cover the sculptural, ship-shaped, limestone matrix on this superlative, old-time specimen from the famous Joplin Field. The gemminess, color and quality of these crystals is top-notch for the locale and are very rarely seen on the market. The entire field of sphalerites are gemmy! This is very old-time material dating to the 1950s or much earlier. The tiny lable on the piece has a $1.50 price! Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family. Valued at $750-900. Try to find another Joplin sphalerite with this gemminess.
