Gem Pyrargyrite ex Hauck Collection & WM Foote

An antique specimen of superb Bolivian pyrargyrite crystals to 1.5 cm, on matrix and in an attractive cluster, these have a deep dark red hue to the surface but they are totally 100% cherry-red and gemmy when strongly backlit. These are true, historic, "Ruby Silvers" of the finest gem quality such that stones were sometimes cut from them. This locality is important in the early history of the silver rush and mining industry in the Americas, and pivotal in world history therefore. Few enough good specimens survived. The crystals are sharp, unworn and undamaged, and have special antique patina. They come from the Richard Hauck collection, and in an interesting old display vial from the WM Foote company circa the late 1800's. valued $1500-2500
