Item Description
A single, relatively large variegated pale and dark purple Fluorite octahedron graces this small cabinet piece from Naica. This is a stunningly gemmy crystal and rare habit for the locale. The glassy Fluorite measures 2.7 cm along its longest edge and is actually composed of two octahedrons growing in perfect unison with their distinct, dual pyramid-shaped corners evident at the top. The Fluorite is a very pale purple to almost colorless for much of the body of the crystal with discontinuous dark purple patches on the faces and near the corners. There are exquisite, low profile, triangular shaped growth features on all the faces resulting in a pleasing geometric pattern. Several translucent, satin lustered, Calcite rhombs from 0.6 to 1.7 cm across partially encircle the Fluorite crystal behind it and along the sides for great color and textural contrast. This represents a rare style of Fluorite for Naica! Valued $1000-plus
