Gem Morganite xls on matrix (ex Bill Larson Coll.)

Item Description

Over 12 classic gem, light pink morganite crystals are aesthetically clustered on the scuptural small cabinet pegmatite matrix plate on this adorable specimen from the Elizabeth R. Mine. The 1.6 x 1.5 x 1.1 cm dominates the plate. All of the lustrous morganites have textbook tabular hexagonal form with water-clear C-axis faces and satin lustre prism faces. The pegmatite was claimed in 1907 as the Hazel W and later renamed. The Elizabeth R. produced excellent morganite, aquamarine, tourmaline, kunzite and other species. Roland Reed purchased the mine in 1974 and renamed it the Elizabeth R. in honor of his wife. He mined the pegmatite for almost 30 years.
