Item Description
A gorgeous vivid indicolite blue, gem elbaite from the famous 1968 find at this renowned pegmatite locale. According to "Minerals & Precious Stones of Brazil", page 534, "the pegmatite known as Golconda II produced more than five hundred kilos of elbaite of intense blue color, which for a long time was considered the international reference for the indicolite variety." The highly lustrous, well-striated crystal looks like a schorl, until you back light it! The crystal is slightly bent and healed from pocket forces and the broken termination is rehealed with teal-green elbaite, adding much pizzazz. Where has it all gone? Probably cut into gem stones. This very fine indicolite elbaite is from an old stash from the Ed Swoboda Collection. 41.34 carats mass or over 8 grams. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
