Gem Indicolite Tourmaline

A classic large gem indicolite tourmaline from circa 2010 finds at the renowned Pederneira Mine. The limpid, well-striated and lustrous crystal has beautiful teal-blue color with an interesting 4 mm teal-green modified pinacoidal termination. This fine trigonal crystal is highly unusual, in that, the prism has a striking knife edge, which adds character. The crystal is also technically doubly terminated, as the broken base is rehealed. Essentially pristine, with only two clean repairs, which is certainly acceptable for pegmatite species. A contact at one of the repairs, where another crystal once lay, has only trivial bruising. An excellent large indicolite from the Pederneira. 17 grams mass. MUCH, MUCH better in person. The gemminess and lustre made photography difficult.
